Café and wine bar fit-out — feature lighting, discreet compliance
A full electrical fit-out for an independent Shrewsbury café and wine bar — chandeliers, pendant clusters and concealed LED strip through exposed brick, with the emergency lighting, detection and CCTV worked in without spoiling it.
The job.
Exposed brick, solid walls and open timber left nowhere to conceal cable, and in a venue like this the interior is the product — surface trunking across the brickwork would have undone the look the client was paying for. Working to their choice of fittings, every route, position and switch line was set out before first fix. The second constraint pulled the other way: emergency lighting, detection and CCTV all have to sit where the regulations want them, in a room where nothing is allowed to look like equipment.
The lighting does what the interior design asked of it, and the parts that have to be there for a fire officer sit quietly behind it rather than fighting it. The installation was tested and certified on completion, and the emergency lighting commissioned and logged — which is the paperwork a licensed venue gets asked for first.
What we did.
- Feature lighting installed to the client's fittings and our layout — crystal chandeliers, opal pendant clusters and wall lights
- Concealed LED strip to banquette seating, the dado line and stair treads
- Cable routes planned around exposed brick and timber, agreed before first fix
- Emergency lighting and maintained exit signage positioned for compliance and for sightlines
- Fire detection sited to suit the finished ceilings
- Full CCTV system — internal, external and behind the bar
- Tested and certified on completion, with the emergency lighting commissioned and logged
