Solar retrofit — panels, skylights and all the paperwork

A black-on-black array threaded between skylights on a low-pitch roof — surveyed, designed and installed in-house, with the isolation and export paperwork done.

Client
Private homeowner
Array
4.3 kWp · 10 panels
Battery
5.2 kWh
Scope
Survey to handover
Overview

The job.

The roof had skylights exactly where the panels wanted to be. The answer was ten 435W all-black panels — a 4.3 kWp array — designed around them without giving up output: shading assessed, strings planned so the skylights would not drag whole runs down, and the layout kept looking deliberate from the street. We handled the G99 application and export paperwork as part of the job.

An all-black array that reads as factory-fitted rather than bolted on, generating well from a roof most installers would have called awkward. Paired with a hybrid inverter and a 5.2 kWh battery, it should put around 3,900 kWh a year through the house. The owners watch generation and battery state live in the GivEnergy app, and the handover pack contains every certificate, test result and warranty in one place.

Scope

What we did.

  • Roof survey and shading assessment
  • Array designed around the skylights
  • All-black panels and mounting for a low-visual finish
  • External isolation and generation metering
  • DNO paperwork and handover pack
